Erice
A walled town on a mountaintop, reached by cable car or a road of switchbacks. Cobbled lanes, courtyards, pastry shops, and a view that runs from the salt pans out to the Egadi islands.
Trapani Salt Pans
Shallow basins, windmills and white salt mounds on the edge of the city, inside a nature reserve with Erice rising behind.
Segesta
A Doric temple standing alone in open countryside, never finished, and a Greek theatre cut into the hill above it looking out over the valley. Few sites in Sicily are this quiet.
